da apostebet: Nottingham Forest admire an “unbelievable” Premier League manager, with Evangelos Marinakis looking to “move quickly” to appoint a replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Nuno sacked after just three Premier League games
da stake casino: Trouble has been brewing at The City Ground for quite some time now, with Nuno not helping the situation when he revealed his relationship with Marinakis was no longer the same as it was in the 2024-25 campaign, saying: “I always had a very good relationship with the owner – last season we were very close and spoke on a daily basis. This season it is not so well,”
“Our relationship has changed and we are not as close. Everybody at the club should be together, but this is not the reality.”
The 51-year-old initially held onto his job, but Forest announced the decision to sack their manager on Monday night, with Marinakis sacking the Portuguese coach off the back of a 3-0 defeat at home against West Ham United.
It is a controversial decision to sack the manager who led the Tricky Trees to Europe for the first time in 30 years, which makes it even more crucial for Marinakis to get the next appointment right, with Ange Postecoglou set to be appointed.
Taking to X, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett revealed Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is one of the managers “admired” by the Nottingham Forest hierarchy, but Postecoglou appears to be the man set to take Forest forward.

The Tricky Trees could be set for a managerial change at the City Ground.
1 BySean Markus Clifford Sep 5, 2025 Glasner could have been "unbelievable" appointment
It seems likely the Austrian, who plays a 3-4-2-1 system, would’ve been a popular appointment among the Forest fans, given what he has achieved since arriving at Crystal Palace, most notably leading the Eagles to FA Cup glory last season.
However, the 51-year-old would’ve been a controversial appointment from a Palace point of view, given the fact Forest replaced Glasner’s side in the Europa League this season, due to issues surrounding multi-club ownership.
Oliver Glasner lifts the FA Cup.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has praised the “unbelievable” job Glasner has done, while also adding: “He loves football, always believes we can win and he instills that in his players.”
However, Postecoglou may also be an exciting appointment, given that the Australian is well-known for an attacking style of play, with the 60-year-old leading Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League glory last season.
da blaze casino: Arsenal have enjoyed a phenomenal first summer transfer window under new sporting director Andrea Berta, but with deadline day early next week, there is still no sign of Mikel Arteta’s side throwing the towel in.
da marjack bet: The Gunners have spent well north of £250 million on seven new recruits, with Kepa, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze all joining Arteta’s star-studded squad.

While many of these arrivals were pre-planned amid weeks/months of talks, Berta showed that he can fast and under pressure by hijacking Tottenham’s deal for Eze.
Following Kai Havertz’s injury, having previously backed off from Eze due to their desire for Ethan Nwaneri to get more game time this season (talkSPORT), Arsenal U-turned over signing the 27-year-old and swiftly agreed a deal for him – breaking Spurs hearts in the process.
Arsenal targeting "extraordinary" Ajax attacker amid Piero Hincapie talks
Mikel Arteta’s side are looking at more signings before the deadline.
ByEmilio Galantini Aug 28, 2025
It was one of the most sensational transfer hijacks in recent memory, with Arteta praising Arsenal for their “unexpected” move.
Given their seismic summer expenditure, and the fact Arsenal have reinforced nearly every area of their squad, you’d think Berta would be done there.
However, that actually isn’t the case.
Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
Arsenal are in talks to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen, according to multiple media sources, and the Ecuador international has already agreed personal terms as Berta chases a potential loan with an obligation to buy in 2026.
Signing the centre-back would allow Jakub Kiwior to join FC Porto, and this potential transfer domino is making all the headlines around N5 right now.
Piero Hincapie pushing to join Arsenal for £43 million
As per Ben Jacobs, an instant permanent transfer for Hincapie cannot be ruled out either, even if an obligation next year is the most likely scenario.

Hincapie himself is apparently pushing to join Arsenal for a fee close to £43m, with the club hoping to strike a deal below his £52m release clause.
In another update, Jacobs adds that today is seen as “key”, with negotiations at an advanced stage as Arsenal push to agree a deal before the weekend.

Wicketkeeper backed to keep playing his own way despite first-innings dismissal at Headingley

Jamie Smith saw England over the line in their chase•Getty Images
For all that there was tension as England hunted down 371 to win the first Test against India earlier this week, most of it had dissipated by the time Jamie Smith planted his front foot to Ravindra Jadeja, and blazed England past the finish line with a volley of four, six, six in the first over of the fifth day’s final hour.It was, as Smith explained this week, a pre-meditated assault. He had chatted with his batting partner Joe Root at the drinks break, and decided that, with India already armed with the new ball and with Jasprit Bumrah always lurking around the corner, it was time to seal the deal before India had a chance to get even the slightest sniff of a fightback.”The runs at that point were not too many, so I wasn’t expecting him to come on and bowl, but you’re just never quite sure, especially in cricket,” Smith said at a Rothesay media event in London. “You don’t know what will happen. I always back our tail but there could be a couple of decent balls and suddenly you’re eight-down and the pressure’s back on you again. It was nice to just get it done and move on.”Related

That burst of aggression might not have been a remarkable option, had it not been for what had happened in England’s first innings. Back on the third afternoon, and with Smith similarly placed on 40 not out, he had again swung across the line – this time to Prasidh Krishna – and holed out to deep square leg to expose England’s lower-middle order to the second new ball. The two moments offer a microcosm of England’s no-consequences attitude. For all that the team was hailed for playing “Bazball with brains”, as Michael Vaughan put it on Test Match Special, the fundamentals of their mindset appear not to have altered massively. So long as there is method to the chosen madness, it appears anything still goes in the McCullum-Stokes regime.”It’s great,” Smith said. “Having that belief from other people is something that definitely took my game to the next level. When you’re out there batting, it is you and your partner at the other end, so it’s quite individual, but to have that backing and trust that other people are doing the same thing, you don’t feel you’re alone when you’re doing what you feel is right in that moment.”When you are caught on the boundary trying to hit the ball for six, you feel you’re not going to get a slap on the wrist. [The attitude is] ‘mate, that was a good option, the wind was howling that way’.Jamie Smith speaking at a Rothesay media event in London•Getty Images
“I knew there was a new ball coming and it looks as though I’d exposed Chris Woakes [at No.8] but, at that point, if I’d hit another couple of sixes in that over, you’re taking all the momentum into the new ball. The second new ball can bring wickets but it can increase the scoring rate as well. There’s always a little bit of calculated thinking behind it.”A lack of overthinking, however, remains one of England’s core principles. Speaking at the end of the first Test, while Stokes was enjoying the last laugh after criticism of his decision to bowl first, he reiterated that he and McCullum are a “simple-minded pair”, and that the team’s task, when everything else is stripped back, remains “scoring more runs than your opposition”.And so, when confronted with a second-innings scoreline of 302 for 5, with an awkward 69 runs still needed, this lack of complication was very much to Smith’s liking as he walked out to join Root.”It was simple in that you knew you had to chase the runs and we weren’t going to block out for the draw,” he said. “We were always going to be positive and try to get the runs. It was a rapid outfield and as good a batting conditions as you could have on day five. It wasn’t misbehaving too much as the Test went on, so you always felt as though you could keep it simple, you didn’t have to do things too out the box to get the runs which is very helpful.”It was certainly seemed to be India who cracked first as the final day wore on, thanks principally to Ben Duckett’s and Zak Crawley’s opening stand of 188, but also through the relentless optimism that the rest of the batting line-up brought to their task – including the captain, Stokes, who struggled against Jadeja’s left-arm line outside his off stump, but rarely stopped going for his strokes in a 51-ball 33.”It’s hard when you’re out there and you’re focused on the job at hand,” Smith said. “You know the importance of that moment, when you have the opportunity to start the series with a win, that your focus is all on that.”When they’re trying to get 10 wickets and you’re chasing 370, it’s not everyday that gets done. There could have been some head-downs at the end but they kept trying all day. I see a lot of chat about maybe some inexperience on their part but I thought they were fantastic throughout the five days.”

da bet sport: A new stadium isn’t the only freshened-up feature that Everton fans are looking forward to this season: David Moyes has also been busy sprucing his squad with new quality, shipping out the old.
da imperador bet: Everton start their Premier League campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Leeds United on Monday evening, with the curtain-raising fixture sure to give the club a demonstration of the new and a reminder of the old. Dominic Calvert-Lewin may feature up front for the Whites, after all.
Everton manager DavidMoyesbefore the match
However, in his old Toffees place, Thierno Barry will be looking to put down a marker and steer his side toward victory at Elland Road, having joined from Villarreal in the summer for an initial £27m fee.
The likes of Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carlos Alcaraz, no longer a loanee, have shored up the midfield following the exodus at the end of the 2024/25 season. Elsewhere, 19-year-old Adam Aznou adds depth and versatility to the defence.
But with Jarrad Branthwaite currently sidelined, Everton’s lack of depth at the back is accentuated.
Everton need a right-back
With Ashley Young now plying his trade for Ipswich Town in the Championship and Seamus Coleman playing only 11 minutes during Everton’s pre-season fixture against Roma, Everton desperately need a bit more quality and quantity at the rear.
Everton manager David Moyes
Not least because Vitalii Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson are both considered doubts ahead of Monday evening’s clash at Leeds.
But with Branthwaite anticipated to be sidelined for the foreseeable future with a hamstring injury, it’s possible that Jake O’Brien reverts to his natural central berth alongside James Tarkowski, having featured prominently as a makeshift right-back under Moyes’ wing last year, to a great effect.
It’s clear, then, that Everton could do with a versatile defender to complete the set, one who could operate across different areas seamlessly, adding defensive strength and technical skill.
What Everton need is their next John Stones, and they might just have found him in an up-and-coming Premier League talent.
Everton in talks to sign Premier League star
According to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, Everton have joined a host of their Premier League rivals in chasing a deal for Manchester City’s Rico Lewis this month.
It’s understood that Lewis, 20, is open to leaving the Etihad Stadium as he searches for regular first-team minutes, and that Everton, along with the likes of Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur, have been in contact with intermediaries relevant to the situation.
Valued in the ballpark of £26m, Forest have already seen an initial offer rejected, so Everton and the Friedkin Group will need to work swiftly if they hope to seal his signature.
Why Everton want Rico Lewis
Lewis was handed a starting berth at Molineux on Saturday evening, keeping a clean sheet and claiming an assist from right-back as Man City defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in the Premier League.
Already, the versatile talent has played 95 matches for Man City, scoring five goals and registering ten assists. In spite of his limited match action, Pep Guardiola has described him as “one of the best I’ve ever trained” and as a “special” talent; high praise indeed.
But the Spanish tactician also prefers to work with a small squad, and so Lewis is available for transfer. Everton could now take advantage, landing their next version of Stones by doing so.
Stones fell just shy of a century of appearances for the Toffees before earning his big-money move to Manchester, playing 95 times all told.
One of the most talented defenders of his generation, Stones started his top-flight career with the Blues, who didn’t enjoy him at his peak but got a taste of his elite quality.
Three Lions teammate Ezri Konsa has since hailed the 31-year-old as being a “world-class” player, and it’s hard to disagree. Stones’ genius footballing IQ and his incredible dynamism across many positions make him the prototypical ‘Pep Guardiola player’, with injuries the biggest drawback of an illustrious career.
Though he’s young and bears limited experience, Lewis could emulate his countryman, only travelling the opposite lane down the M62.

Praised post-match for his all-encompassing performance by The Manchester Evening News, who awarded him an 8/10 game rating, Lewis demonstrated the kind of technical control, creativity and combativeness to thrive as one of the standout players in the Premier League over the coming years, and it’s an opportunity Moyes cannot afford to pass up.
Further statistical analysis opens up a wider understanding of what makes this rising prospect so special. As per data-driven site FBref, Lewis ranks among the top 1% of full-backs across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for pass completion, the top 12% for passes attempted, the top 8% for progressive passes and the top 4% for through balls per 90.
With his remarkable ball-playing capacity underscored, Lewis is patently a talent who could rival Stones in the years to come, especially as he has made 25 senior Citizen appearances in midfield too, underscoring his versatility and how his slick passing game and steely nature lend themselves to an all-important anchoring role.
Manchester City'sRicoLewisin action with Paris St Germain's Achraf Hakimi
It’s something that Stones has performed with aplomb through the latter stages of his remarkable career. Everton lost their young prodigy before he could bloom into the player he became, but in Lewis, they could strike back, landing Moyes a superstar in the making.

Lancashire 216 for 3 (Jennings 95, Wells 87) beat Notts Outlaws 169 (Henriques 60, Barnard 3-23) by 47 runsLancashire openers Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells shared 177 inside 16 overs – the highest ever partnership for any wicket in the Vitality Blast North Group – as Lightning beat Nottinghamshire Outlaws by 47 runs at Emirates Old Trafford.Having elected to bat, Jennings crashed 95 off 49 balls and Wells 87 off 50 as Lightning totalled 216 for three to set up a second straight win to start their campaign. The Outlaws, who replied with 169 all out, have now won one, lost one. Less than 24 hours earlier, they conceded 226 for five against the Bears at Trent Bridge but chased it easily. This target was achievable even on a used pitch. But Lancashire returned a polished bowling display including a superb debut three for 23 from four overs for left-arm spinner Charlie Barnard. Moises Henriques made 60 off 32 balls for Notts.Jennings and Wells shared 79 on the same pitch in victory over Worcestershire on Thursday, and the two left-handers excelled again. They hit six sixes apiece and were dominant down the ground against both seam and spin. The 13 sixes in the innings equalled a Lightning record.Jennings had actually been dropped off his first ball, getting a leading edge off the part-time spin of Matt Montgomery, who went one-handed diving to his right.Dillon Pennington, Daniel Sams and the left-arm spin of Liam Patterson-White all claimed a wicket apiece for the Outlaws, but Montgomery was the pick of their attack, returning nought for 20 from four overs of off-spin.Wells reached his fifty first off 34 balls shortly before Jennings got his second in as many games off 27 on Pride day at Emirates Old Trafford. They bettered the previous North Group record stand – 175 between openers Graeme Hick and Vikram Solanki for Worcestershire against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster in 2007.After Wells uppercut the pace of Pennington to short third man to end the partnership, Notts did well to drag things back. They could easily have been chasing more.Henriques took a superb leaping catch at backward point to help Patterson-White remove his fellow Australian Ashton Turner as two wickets fell in the last 15 balls of the innings.Bustling pacer Tom Aspinwall then struck twice in the third over of the Outlaws’ chase – 21 for two – as captain Joe Clarke drilled to cover and fellow opener Lyndon James was bowled.Jack Haynes and lead partner Henriques then settled things and advanced by sharing 61 inside six overs, the latter hoisting two big leg-side sixes in that time. But when Haynes cut 20-year-old Barnard, who took the new ball, to cover for his first T20 wicket on debut, Lancashire were ahead again at 82 for three in the ninth.Veteran Henriques reached a 21-ball fifty moments later, and you felt he had to be the match-winner.So when he was trapped lbw by Barnard, shortly followed by Sams bowled later in the 15th over, it felt like game over at 131 for six. It proved true.Like Barnard, Aspinwall was excellent with three for 26. So to was overseas off-spinner Chris Green with two for 28.

da stake casino: It has been a quiet summer so far for Aston Villa. After the disappointment of losing out on a Champions League finish at the back end of last season, the Villans have only made a couple of signings to strengthen ahead of the new season.
da pinup bet: With the season now less than two weeks away, Unai Emery’s side have reportedly agreed a deal to sign OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand. The 24-year-old, who was also a target for Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, cost £30m including add-ons.
Evann Guessand in action for Nice in Ligue 1.
With Guessand all but through the door, Villa have seemingly turned their attention to another attacker, who can help to strengthen in forward areas.
Aston Villa’s next target after Guessand
The Villans lost Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio at the end of last season, with the loans of both players expiring. There is a clear focus from the club to strengthen in attack, with the signing of Guessand the first new forward through the door at Villa Park.
Transfer Focus
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
Now, a report from journalist Graeme Bailey suggests that the West Midlands club are ‘holding an interest’ in Manchester United and Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The 21-year-old is said to be a target for three Premier League sides, with a desire to stay in England’s top flight, and Villa ‘have also entered the race’ for his signature.
Manchester United's AlejandroGarnachoduring training
Although it is West London giants Chelsea who are the ‘standout option’ for the youngster, he is ‘open to working’ with Emery, and Tottenham Hotspur are also showing an interest. Last month, it was reported by The Mirror that the Red Devils have slashed their asking price to just £40m.
Why Garnacho would be a good signing
Despite being just 21 years of age, Garnacho has already gained lots of experience at the highest level for United. Statman Dave described him as a “special talent” last season, and there were some standout moments.
Manchester United's AlejandroGarnachoreacts
He played 58 games in all competitions for the Red Devils, whose academy he came through back in 2022. In that time, the winger scored 11 goals and grabbed a further ten assists. However, just eight of those goal involvements came in the Premier League, in 36 appearances.
He has already played a lot of first-team football, notching up an impressive 144 games for United. His record of 26 goals and 22 assists stands out for someone aged just 21, and he’s scored some excellent goals, too. The most famous one came against Everton in 2023/24, with his stunning overhead kick earning him the Puskas Award.
The winger, who was born in Madrid, could well become unplayable with Guessand. Villa’s new attacker shone last term for Nice, scoring 12 goals and grabbing nine assists in 33 Ligue 1 games.
The Ivory Coast international can play right across the front line, highlighted by former manager Antoine Kombouare during his loan spell at Nantes in 2022/23.
Kombouare also described him as a “powerful” and “fast” attacker.
With the Nice academy graduate, a player who is effective both in and around the penalty box and out wide, he could form a deadly partnership with Garnacho at Villa. The winger is a player who loves to drive inside from wide positions, which could lead to some fluid rotations between the pair.
Garnacho’s numbers from the 2024/25 Europa League campaign suggest he could become a regular provider of goals for Guessand. The stats on FBref show he averaged 2.04 key passes per game and 0.37 assists, ranking him in the 82nd and 85th percentile, respectively. If he achieves those numbers for Villa, Guessand could strike gold.

Despite his age, Garnacho is already very experienced and has shown his ability to score and assist regularly for United. With Guessand being a striker who facilitates play and creates chances, plus his ability to put the ball in the back of the net, this could become a deadly duo.
£40m is not too much of an investment for 21-year-old Garnacho, with United looking to move him on this summer. Perhaps he is the perfect player for Villa’s new look attack, alongside Guessand.
Dream for Watkins: Aston Villa reach agreement for "Fernandes-esque" star
As Aston Villa seek their first proper signing of the window, could it a “Bruno Fernandes-esque” star?
