The ICC has given official sanction to Major League Cricket (MLC), the USA’s big leap into the world of T20 leagues, removing a significant obstacle to the league launching in July this year. A long-simmering dispute between the league’s organisers and USA Cricket, the country’s official cricket administrative body, had threatened to disrupt the league starting this year.However, USA Cricket announced on Thursday night in a brief statement that it has approved MLC as well as Minor League Cricket (MiLC), meaning that both events can go ahead as planned. Crucially, it means that ICC members are now free to issue NOCs (No Objection Certificates) to any of their players picked by MLC sides to participate in the league.”Over the past few months, we have worked diligently with Ace [American Cricket Enterprises, the parent body of MLC and MILC] to ensure that the MLC and MiLC are positioned well to support the growth of cricket in the United States,” said USA Cricket in a press release.USA Cricket had previously given sanction to MiLC, for both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but soon after the MLC’s player draft, the ICC’s operations department sent a communication to members flagging the issue for overseas players wishing to play in both competitions. “Members may be aware of the following two events that are proposed to be played in the USA,” the ICC had said of the events, both administered by ACE, which signed a 50-year commercial rights agreement with USA Cricket in 2019.Related

In short, it was a simply sensational performance and one that has to keep him in the starting lineup for every important game going forward, which is exactly what can be said about Djed Spence as well.

Yes, the other starter who really caught our eye was Spence.

The talented full-back made just his sixth start of the campaign, and as has been the case in most other appearances he’s made this season, his performance was so good that it simply raises more questions about why he hasn’t started more games.

The “unbelievable” ace, as dubbed by the iconic Ian Wright, was absolutely rock-solid at the back, so much so that we forgot Mohamed Salah was even playing, as well as a useful outlet in attacking moves.

Like his Swedish teammate, the 24-year-old star seriously impressed Gold, who awarded him another 9/10 match rating and wrote that it was an ‘excellent display’ from the former Middlesbrough gem and that ‘he really is challenging now to keep his spot for the longer term.’

That might all sound like hyperbole, but it really isn’t, and his statistics from the game prove as much.

For example, in his 98 minutes on the pitch, the 6 foot titan took 78 touches, made 36 passes, won eight of 12 duels, made one interception, two tackles and six clearances and completed two dribbles.

Ultimately, it might only be half-time in the tie, but Spurs were superb last night, and while there were brilliant performances across the pitch, Bergvall and Spence stood out and simply have to start every important game from here on out.

Not that the young coach is faultless, yet after the collective woes endured under his predecessor Erik ten Hag, much of the blame must fall the way of this group of players. In the words of ‘Orange Juice’, perhaps it’s time to ‘rip it up and start again…’

A total squad overhaul may appear hasty, with Amorim still needing time to get his ideas across, yet for too long this misfiring crop have underwhelmed, as was the case again in Thursday’s grim 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Devoid of ideas in attack, outfought and outrun in midfield, and feeble in defence, this is a team that deserves to be languishing in 14th in the Premier League table.

Where to begin?

Well, an obvious place to start would be that man Bruno Fernandes, with the United skipper foolishly picking up a second yellow card just after the break, following a needless, late challenge on compatriot Nelson Semedo.

For the third time this season, the Portuguese playmaker has seen red, and while he may have had justifiable complaints regarding his dismissals against Tottenham Hotspur and Porto earlier in the campaign, there was no excuse this time around.

The 30-year-old’s overall performance in that number ten berth – which saw him win just three of his 12 ground duels, as per Sofascore – was in stark contrast to Wolves’ main man, Matheus Cunha, with the Brazilian grabbing a goal and an assist, while winning 13 ground duels in what was a real all-round performance.

Cunha’s dynamism and work ethic was also in stark contrast to young Kobbie Mainoo in the centre of the park, with the 19-year-old midfielder – who scored that last-gasp winner at Molineux back in February – rightly hooked on the hour mark after squandering the ball 11 times from just 37 touches.

Injury and managerial upheaval has no doubt impacted the Englishman this season, after the highs of earning a place at Euro 2024 last season, yet time should be afforded him to get back to his brilliant best.

Time, however, is not something that should be gifted to one of his floundering teammates, with supporters no doubt having seen enough of a certain Andre Onana.

Why Andre Onana needs to be replaced

It must be said that it wasn’t too long ago that the Cameroonian looked like United’s “best player this season” – as per journalist Steven Railston – having produced numerous key moments in the early knockings of 2024/25, including his double save away at Crystal Palace.

With that in mind, it may then be hasty to say that the former Ajax man should now be ditched, although recent weeks have laid bare just why he is not up to scratch. At a time when United – and new boss Amorim – are in need of calm, Onana merely provides chaos.

The 28-year-old is not alone in that, of course, yet Amorim’s early reign has already been littered with goalkeeping mistakes. Against Nottingham Forest, Onana somehow failed to keep out Morgan Gibbs-White’s long range effort, having also been unable to deal with Chris Wood’s looping header.

That was followed by another comical error when attempting to play out from the back against Viktoria Plzen, while the Red Devils’ first-choice stopper was also culpable at Molineux, having allowed Cunha to remarkably net directly from a corner.

With Altay Bayindir having suffered similar against Spurs last week, perhaps this latest blunder is a result of a tactical issue, yet the manner in which Onana watched as the ball sailed over him was meek indeed. It’s no surprise that journalist Samuel Luckhurst branded him a “pushover”.

The £120k-per-week stopper – who received a 3/10 match rating from Luckhurst – looks far more like the player who wilted during United’s Champions League group stage debacle last season, in which he made at least two errors leading directly to a goal.

To have been at the centre of so many mistakes after joining in the summer of 2023 is frankly not a good look, with it no surprise that Amorim has reportedly already seen enough, amid claims that the new boss wants to replace Onana in January.

Selling the £47.5m man in the winter window may appear an unlikely and bold move, yet on the evidence of recent form – which has seen United suffer three straight defeats – no one in the squad is safe.

-Para nós foi um acordo maravilhoso. Inauguramos nossa casa em 2014. A gente vem pagando desde então, tivemos esse problema com a Caixa, que foi resolvido de forma brilhante – iniciou Duílio, que exaltou o trabalho de Andrés Sanchez, ex-presidente do Timão, para arquitetar oparcelamento anual, junto a Caixa, com duração até 2041.

– Queria dividir com o grande responsável que é o Andrés Sanchez, voltou em 2018 para conseguir esse acordo, e conseguiu algo melhor do que a gente imaginava. A gente sabe tudo que aconteceu para nós termos essa casa maravilhosa. O acordo é muito bom ao Corinthians e agradecer ao Andrés durante suas duas gestões – comentou Duílio.

Duílio Monteiro Alves também exaltou o trabalho de sua diretoria e todos os órgãos do clube para melhorar a situação financeira do clube.O Corinthians ainda não apresentou o balancete, mas o LANCE! apurou que o clube fechou primeiro semestre do ano de 2002 com superávit de R$ 2 milhões em suas finanças.

-Agradeço a minha diretoria, todos os órgãos do clube, que estão trabalhando para deixar o Corinthians maior e melhor. Tivemos os dois primeiros semestres de gestão com superávit. esse ano também, agora está tendo uma reunião no CORI para aprovação do semestre e revisão orçamentária – disse.

O presidente também destacou o impacto positivo com arrecadações nas últimas temporadas. Segundo o mandatário, o clube espera arrecadar R$ 700 milhões ao final da temporada. Contra o Red Bull Bragantino, o Timão ultrapassou os R$ 70 milhões com arrecadações em jogos na Neo Química Arena, batendo a meta estabelecida.

-A gente teve, ano passado, recorde de arrecadação, 503 milhões, e a gente prevê neste ano, chegar ou passar de 700 milhões. Isso é um trabalho que vem sendo feito de outras gestões. Foi construído um alicerce, tem essa casa incrível, CT, da base, feminino, e fico feliz de fazer parte de um pedaço dele – comemorou.

CONTRATAÇÕES

Na última janela de transferência, a diretoria corintiana acertou as contratações por empréstimo de Balbuena e Yuri Alberto, além do acordo em definitivo pelo meia Fausto Vera.

Duílio não quis deixar o torcedor esperançoso com mais reforços, e exaltou o papel da torcida nas três últimas contratações feitas pelo Time do Povo.

– Não criar muita expectativa para o futuro, a situação ainda não é fácil. A gente consegue ir melhorando aos poucos, como foi essa janela, chegada do Yuri, Balbuena, Fausto. A Fiel tem muita importância nisso, porque os jogadores querem jogar no Corinthians. Além do pessoal da diretoria, CIFUT, Vítor Pereira e sua comissão – no caso do Fausto – afirmou.

-A gente fica feliz com o trabalho, sabemos que o futebol não se faz de um dia para o outro. Estamos tendo sucesso, melhorar o nosso time, ter a Fiel junto, com um trabalho de anos. Continuar nesse caminho para termos sucesso em um futuro próximo – concluiu Duílio Monteiro Alves.

وتحدثت تقارير عن احتمالية توقيع عقوبات على لاعبي الأهلي، بقرار من محمود الخطيب رئيس النادي، بعد توديع البطولة من الدور الأول.

لكن الإعلامي أحمد شوبير، حسم الأمر، بعد تغريدة له عبر حسابه الرسمي على موقع “إكس”، حيث قال: “مفيش أي خصومات على لاعبي الأهلي ولا اللايحة فيها كدة أصلا”.

وكان الأهلي قد ودع منافسات بطولة كأس العالم للأندية، بعدما احتل المركز الرابع والأخير في ترتيب المجموعة الأولى بنقطتين.
